About Me

.

I’m Richard, a fully qualified Government Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) who is passionate about road safety. I completed my Advanced Driving Training with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). After achieving a high score on the test, I was invited to join their coveted ‘F1rst’ club. I am currently working towards becoming an ‘observer’ so that I can train others in the art of Advanced Driving techniques.
I became a driving instructor because I wanted a job with real satisfaction. There is nothing better than seeing someone pass their test, which then opens up a whole new world of opportunity. I was also constantly told by friends and colleagues that I was a calm and relaxed type of person and that I would make a great Driving Instructor.

The Teaching Method

I was fortunate enough to be trained in the latest adult coaching and training techniques by the Learner Driver Center (LDC), so you can be assured the training I give will be of the highest standard. I have used the LD system for the past seven years. I chose to work with LDC because I understood that everybody is different, and the LD system allows for flexibility in their lesson plans. Its now time to move on and become an independent driving school with high standards. This means that each student can learn to drive at their own pace. I aim to make every lesson enjoyable, and as productive as possible.

Road Safety

To keep up with developments in the industry, I regularly attend CPD training days. Recently, I attended a presentation by the Devon and Cornwall Emergency Services. The presentation was called ‘The Honest Truth’. The emergency services wanted to reduce the number of accidents that involved young people and to do that, they decided to work with 25 Approved Driving Instructors (ADI’s) from the local Devon and Cornwall area. This number has increased, and they are now looking to involve instructors in other areas to promote this initiative. I have joined the group of ADI’s that promote this while teaching by explaining the dangers of being a young driver. I suggest that all drivers and parents visit their website at www.thehonesttruth.co.uk and see what they are promoting.
